West Somerset Food Cupboard Newsletter, August 2024

Dear friends and supporters of the West Somerset Food Cupboard,

Well, what a month it has been, we have seen a change of government, England almost bring it home and our tennis legend Andy Murray retire and not to mention the success we are seeing in the Olympics. What this shows to me is not only how hard work and dedication can pay off but also how much joy this commitment brings to so many. At the Food Cupboard I see this every day with the dedication of our volunteers, agencies, suppliers and most importantly our committed community who donate so generously every week. We could not do what we do without all this collective help so let me use this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who has made a difference.

Lidl Donations

Thank-you Minehead Lidl GB for your continued generosity, donating surplus food that would have gone to waste to our very grateful Tuesday Pantry members. This food helps families in our local community and ensures every member goes home with a full bag.

This Month’s Shortages:

  • Individual puddings, fruit pots, jellies, custards.
  • 200g tins of baked beans, vegetables, spaghetti or ravioli
  • Breakfast bars
  • Individual juice drinks
  • Sugar
  • Longlife milk
  • Instant mash
  • Cuppa soup

Tasters for Local Pantry Members

As the school holidays start our kind volunteer Linda cooked up some fresh fish cakes. Local Pantry members were able to taste a delicious sample, and take home a recipe with all the necessary ingredients in their shopping bags 😋

Here’s hoping the good weather continues.

Wishing you all the best from the team at WSFC
